On this project, Yerba Buena replaced the drainage system at the San Mateo Creek Bridge (Doran Bridge), between Postmiles 12.70 and 12.73 of Highway 280.
We extended corrugated metal drainpipe from the bridge 900 feet down to an existing sediment basin, constructed a cement-lined v-ditch below the roadway weep holes, improved and replaced the existing drainage inlets, and improved the overall drainage system.
Additional work included site preparation, demolition, joint trench, paving, and landscape drainage improvements.
The San Mateo Creek and sediment basin are within the boundaries of the project site and were protected at all times. Much of the original scope of work was completed within the first month in order to meet an October 15, 2015, deadline set by the Regional Water Quality Control Board for mitigating soil erosion into the creek.
Because the work took place in an environmentally sensitive area, we elevated the 900-foot-long drainpipe a foot off the ground along its length to allow animals to pass underneath.
